We're switching over to Cloud Hosting
We will undergo so major maintenance over the next few weeks, but just as every maintenance we start from the base which in our case is the server.
This weekend we will upgrade from a single server to 3 servers spread across United States and all the servers will be much more powerful than our current one. We are talking 6 CPU cores and 6 GB RAM with unlimited bandwidth.
What does it mean for you?
- Websites will be loaded faster with a smaller chance of down-time. Last year we've had the server go down on very few occasions and only once did it last longer than 2 minutes, but still, we know that it happens to the best, even Google and Amazon go down sometimes, but we want to make sure that it will never happen, so now, if one server goes down, your visitors will be automatically sent to a backup server.
Will the price for the service increase with the faster servers?
- Yes, we already increased the monthly price to $10 a month, but if you are already a premium member, you are locked in to your original price.
Will the service be affected over the weekend?
- The websites will not be affected through the process. Once the switch is done we will redirect your domains to the newer/faster servers and the websites will continue working with no issues.
Are there any downsides of this?
- We hope there won't be any. There may be a slight chance that you upload your images onto the old server and they would disappear on the new one, but the chances of that are very slim as the actual update will take place in the off-peak hours and a transfer will be double checked. In rare instances that this might happen, we ask you to please upload your photos again.
What's next on the agenda after the weekend?
- We will create a script management service to make sure that all the available fonts and JavaScript libraries are always up to date, and we will gradually upgrade the PHP version, making our websites THE fastest option out there.
